The term "cancer" is generally used to refer to all malignant tumors, but this is actually inaccurate.

To talk about cancer, we have to start with tumor.

Tumor is a new organism formed by the proliferation of local tissue cells under the action of various tumor-causing factors, because this new organism is mostly in the form of an occupying block, also called superfluous organism.

There are benign tumors and mal ignant tumors.

The difference between benign tumors and malignant tumors.

Benign tumor grows slowly, has envelope, swelling growth, sliding when touched, clear boundary, no metastasis, generally good prognosis.

No metastasis, generally good prognosis, with local pressure symptoms, generally no systemic symptoms, usually will not cause death of patients.

Malignant tumors can be further divided into cancer and sarcoma, of which cancer is the one we have heard most often.

Malignant tumor grows rapidly and invasively, adheres to surrounding tissues, cannot move when touched, has unclear boundary, is easy to metastasize, and is prone to recurrence after treatment, which may have low fever, poor appetite, weight loss in early stage, and severe wasting, anemia and fever in late stage, which often leads to death if not treated timely.

To sum up, benign tumor can usually be cured and will not lead to death; malignant tumor is difficult to be cured and is a worldwide problem, which usually leads to death of patients.
