Where is the location of the heart?
The heart is located in the chest, about 1/3 on the right side of the midline, 2/3 on the left side of the midline (except for the right heart), the sternum and ribs in front of the heart, the thoracic vertebrae on both sides, the pleura and lungs on both sides, and the large blood vessels above, adjacent to the diaphragm below. The projection position of the body surface of the heart can be drawn after percussion. On the left, the third intercostal distance from the midline of the sternum is about 4.5-5.5cm, and the fifth intercostal distance from the midline of the sternum is about 7-9cm. On the right: the third intercostal distance from the midline of the sternum is about 2-3cm.
